Thirty minutes in the life | Childhood friendships | Oromocto Documentary Photographer

When you see threatening storm clouds heading your way, why not go outside to play? That's what we did one night this summer. The neighbourhood kids thought it was great. It was just another memory of spcial childhood friendships.

“In the life of a photographer, whose art is created in tiny fractions of a second, thirty minutes is a sustained thought. Thirty minutes, the length of a child’s ballet class, a quick sauce’s simmer, a commute, is long enough to witness change and short enough to be over before you know it. We offer you here our monthly results of thirty minutes of watching and waiting and recording, of rendering permanent those fractions of a second that slip past in the time it takes to watch a television show. Thirty minutes in the life.“

Since we moved here in 2017, our girls have become friends with our neighbours' kids. They formed a friendship that was exactly what I wish for them. Over the last two years there have been so many bike rides, movie nights, walks to the bus stop, snack times (SO many snacks) and lots more fun.

Sadly this night was the last one like this. Friends move away and you have to say goodbye. I made sure to get lots of photos because I want them all to remember the fun they had together on our street.

These childhood friendships are so important. They shape the kind of friends they will always be, and they give them memories that will last a lifetime.
