The first hours only happen once. Fredericton Fresh 48 Session
The day this post is going live is one year since the baby boy in these photos was born. I shot this Fredericton Fresh 48 Session two days later. Because of Covid I haven't been able to shoot one since.
One of the hardest changes to my business in the last year is not being able to go to hospitals. I was just starting to book more Fresh 48 sessions, so it has been a blow to not be able to do them any more.
I'm so thankful I got to do this one though.
First I shot this beautiful family's maternity photos at their home. I saw and felt their anticipation as they waiting for their baby boy to arrive. Then I got to feel their unbelievable joy as they got to know him just hours after he was born.
I'm sure every mom-to-be knows how fast the first hours will go. But it's not until you actually experience it that you really understand. There are so many things going through your head. How and when to feed, getting baby to sleep, trying to recover and rest. And through it all you are anxious to get home and start your new life.
You don't need these photos right now. You need them a year from now, five years from now, someday way in the future when you need to be reminded of how it all began.
One of my favourite parts of Fresh 48 Sessions, especially when it's first-time-parents, is documenting them learning how to be parents. It's almost always one of the first times they swaddle their baby, they still need to figure out the best way to hold him and getting him dressed is a whole experience!
These two have been parents for a year now and I just know they are rocking it. Happy birthday little man, I know you have brought your mom and dad so much joy.
