Week 40, Dawn | 2015 Project 52

January 14, 2016

“I spend a lot of mornings watching the light. As the seasons change, so does the light and how it streams into our living room. I especially love the fall because I can watch the sunrise as I drink my coffee, while my girls play at my feet and the room slowly brightens and fills with warm sunshine.

One morning this week I noticed how the dawn sun lit the trees in our neighbour’s yard just right. Everything was so still, except for the leaves that would fall from the branches every so often.”

As I sit here on an overcast, snowy day I long for fall mornings. I miss the warmth of the sun and the cool breeze through an open window. I miss the leaves, still on the trees, creating shadows on our driveway. And I miss the way the leaves float from the branches like snowflakes.

I’m glad I have these photos to remind me of those quiet mornings when I sat, watching the sunrise as I sipped my first coffee.
