Week 4, Joy | 2014 Project 52

February 3, 2014

I’m playing catch up with my Project 52 blog posts. Strangely, this one was tough for me because there are lots of things in my life that bring me joy. But finding a way to put that joy in a photo was challenging. I feel so lucky right now because I have a perfect family, and although our life is pretty simple, it is wonderful in so many ways. Every day is not sunshine and roses of course, but at the end of the day, I can sit back and truly say that I am so happy.

But instead of trying to put all the things that bring me joy in one photo, I went with something that stood out to me in a moment of play with my daughter Sofia. Sometimes I look at her and I can’t believe how fast the time has gone. Her silliness, her curiosity and her kindness make me feel like I’m doing this parenting thing right.

Here’s my caption for week 4’s photo:

“There are a lot of things in my life that bring me joy. Lately, though it has been my oldest daughter Sofia’s blooming personality.

Before starting Pre-K in September she couldn’t talk much, she wasn’t comfortable in groups of kids her own age and she preferred to play alone. Since then, I can’t believe how much she’s grown. She comes home from school every day with new words, telling us about her friends.

Seeing how excited she is to learn, hearing from her teachers the things she is doing, makes me so happy.

And the thing that has brought me the most joy of all – her handing me these flowers, giving me a hug and saying ‘I love you, mommy’.”

I love taking photos of Sofia while she plays, because it’s so easy to capture her personality <3 IMG_9987-copy
