Seeing a new mom and dad with their newborn baby never stops amazing me. It’s just something that only happens to them once, that feeling of excitement and the never-ending love they’ve never felt before.
So it makes me so happy to be able to capture that feeling in photos for them. These moments don’t last and I love being able to give them the gift of preserving them forever. Soon they will forget the little details of their new baby – the flaky skin on her feet or the way she breathes when she sleeps in her swing. When you’re living it, that time seems to go on and on, but then it’s over and all you have are the photos and the memories.
I was so happy to be able to go into Kelli and Shawn’s home to meet their baby girl Hailey. I love in-home sessions so much because they are relaxed and most importantly real. I don’t bring props that mean nothing to the family, or put their baby in poses. That’s just not me. I prefer to see baby comfortable in her swing or laying on the special blanket that was given to her when she was born, and will probably stay in family forever. Because it means something, it belongs in her photos.
We hung out in their living room and chatted while I snapped photos and go to know little Hailey. She cried a bit and napped a bit and took in everything happening around her a bit. It was pretty great.
Meaningful photographs don’t need to be complicated, fancy or extravagant. The simplest images can mean the most to a family.
I’m now booking in-home lifestyle sessions in the Fredericton/Oromocto, New Brunswick area. Contact me for information on booking a session for your family.
