Sometimes sessions don’t go exactly as planned, and often the weather is the reason they don’t. Courtney and Kyle’s maternity session could have been doomed, but I took advantage of some not-quite-ideal weather and I think we managed to get some pretty amazing images.

Courtney was one of my model call mommies. I was excited to meet her the evening of her session, but some pretty dark clouds had me worried that we would have to cancel. I really didn’t want to because they were driving from out of town and because her due date was coming up pretty quick. So the first thing we did when they arrived was to take some pictures in front of some crazy storm clouds!

I am no storm chaser, but I do love any opportunity to get some cool sky shots. We couldn’t get many though because Mother Nature had other plans, and wasn’t feeling too photogenic. After I got a few shots, the wind picked up and made it near impossible to get more. Plus, I didn’t want us to be standing near an open field when those clouds – and lightning – were overhead. So we took cover and waited it out.

The rest of the session was much calmer and relaxed, and we spent some time at the park. I love the simplicity of Courtney and Kyle’s session. Courtney was adorable and made being nine months pregnant look easy (and trust me, it’s NOT haha).

Watch my blog for their newborn lifestyle session and meet their sweet baby boy :)
