It’s a girl!
At our 20 weeks ultrasound, we told the tech that we wanted to find out what we were having. He proceeded to describe what he was seeing on the monitor: heart (beating strong!), head, foot up near baby’s head, spine … and then he just added in there “and this baby has girl parts”. After that, we couldn’t stop smiling. Even Sofia, who was there with us watching the whole thing (probably wondering what the heck that guy was doing with mommy’s belly), felt the excitement and clapped!
Aside from all the practical reason to be happy about having a second girl (not having to get rid of all our girl stuff lol), we are so excited that Sofia is going to have a little sister to grow up with, be best friends with (hopefully) and spoil. I’m not sure how much she understands what’s going on yet, but she loves to kiss my belly and we try to talk about her baby sister as much as we can.
These days our little girl grapefruit is moving lots – waking me up in the morning and making it difficult to get comfy at night of course. But I love every single little kick, even the ones that hurt. It makes it feel really REAL. I’ve got a tiny person inside, growing every day. And now even daddy can feel the kicks. You know what? It doesn’t stop being excited the second time around.
I’m feeling bigger every day, especially when I have to stand all day at work and my back gets pretty sore. Just taking it a day at a time, trying to take it easy, eat well and rest when I can. The summer heat is not too bad yet but I’m thankful for our cool basement!
This summer is already going so fast, I know November will be here in no time. We’ve got lots to do to get ready for baby girl Blake’s arrival and we are getting more excited every day <3
