I can’t believe I’m at 11 weeks already! The past few weeks have actually been a bit of a blur. I’ve been feeling yucky a lot, and just want to sleep most of the time. But I’ve also been super busy with work, photo sessions and trying to fit family time in between it all.
One day I looked down and couldn’t believe how my belly had popped. I really am starting to feel pregnant and the reality that a new little person will be coming into our lives soon has set in. I actually started to panic a little thinking about how the heck we’re going to fit another baby in our house. We’ve got a lot of rearranging to do, and we’ve got six months to do it!
This week I went for my first ultrasound. I was nervous because we were finally going to find out for sure whether everything is as it should be or not. And as it turns out all is perfect. Baby measured right for 11 weeks, meaning my new due date is November 7th. We could see our little bean’s arms moving and his or her strong heartbeat of 160. I was so relieved to see and hear that everything is ok. And the doctor made me feel even better when she reminded me that as I am entering the second trimester, my risk of miscarriage is dropping. It’s so weird to think that if I hadn’t lost the baby in the fall, I would be just a few weeks away from giving birth. But instead we are just beginning our journey. I know now that this is how it was meant to be and we are content in knowing that.
This week, baby is the size of a large plum, but plums aren’t in season so I had to compromise. I thought it was fitting to use a cupcake from my daughter’s birthday party. We’re celebrating her turning 3 and looking forward to much more celebrating in the near future!
