Colourblind col·our·blind
adj. Partially or totally unable to distinguish certain colors.

All I could think of when I saw this theme was that people who are colour blind don’t see colours the way most people do.

Today, as I watched my daughter painting, I saw her dip her paintbrush in a bowl of water, then from one colour to another, mixing them and making them almost indistinguishable from their original shade. Orange turned to brown, yellow turned to green, white turned to grey. The colours were still beautiful even if they were different from how they were supposed to be. And she didn’t care that the colours were mixed. In her colourful world, she could still paint a pretty picture for me to hang on the fridge :)”

Our days are filled with arts and crafts lately. I love to see what Sofia comes up with, and sometimes I’m amazed. She loves mixing colours, cutting and gluing, making abstract pictures for her friends at school. I want to throw out the pieces that are just scribbles, but sometimes I can’t. I have a bag full of her art that I know someday she is going to love looking through, even if it doesn’t make any sense to her or anyone else.

This last one is by me. Sofia wanted me to paint something, and the best thing I could come up with in the moment was a rainbow :)
