Things are very different now than when I graduated from high school. Back in 1999 (seriously?!), we didn’t get special photos around grad, and we especially didn’t get casual photos taken. The only professional photos I have from that time are one family shot and one individual of myself in front of a beige back drop. That’s it. And boy (even though I cannot figure out what I was thinking when I picked that dress), I wish I had more.
These days it is far more common to have grad photos taken before the big day itself. I love that – and I don’t actually offer grad day sessions anymore – because it’s so much better to have the time to spend at different locations getting lots of different shots alone and with your family and escort.
Even better are casual sessions for the grad alone. Honestly, I would do this for anyone, not just grads, who wants to feel great about themselves! I’m not talking about head shots or beauty portraits. I mean simple, relaxed photos of yourself being you. Everyone should do it once in their life!
Lucky for me, I got an actual model to sign on as my grad rep for 2017. Morgan has experience in front of the camera, but that didn’t make her session any less relaxed. We laughed, we explored and we got eaten alive by mosquitoes. But it was awesome! And her photos show her personality, which is the very best part. Because years down the road when she is older like me (ha ha), she will be able to look back on those photos and remember what it felt like to be young and vibrant and alive, about to go out into the world on a big adventure.
I am now booking both casual and formal grad sessions for anytime between now and June, for grads from anywhere around Rosetown. I would love to meet you and get to know you and take some beautiful, personality-filled photos before you graduate. And as my Grad Rep, Morgan can get you a discount, so get in touch with me or if you know her, to find out how. I look forward to hearing from you!
