MOMENTS AND MEMORIES

I’m looking for young families in Fredericton to help me get to know the area and to help me expand my local portfolio this fall. Moments and Memories is a way for me to get to know new people, a new place and for you to connect with your family, create memories and come away with some beautiful photos.

WHO
Families of any size with children under the age of 16. All types of families are welcome, and your family pet can even come too! I am looking for families who like to explore. We’ll be outdoors at unique locations. Waterfalls, walking trails, downtown coffee shops or book stores. Anything goes so be prepared for a little adventure!

You should also love playing together. You should be comfortable with snuggles (I love old quilts so I’ll probably bring a few along, especially if it’s chilly), tickle fights and just being yourselves. Don’t worry about posing or getting perfect smiles for the camera. Your kids can play and do whatever they want and I’ll document everything as it happens. I’ll be watching for authentic moments that show your connection.

You should be parents who want to be in more photos WITH your kids, not just the ones behind the camera. Expect to be in lots of photos with your little ones, and alone together for a few shots too.

WHAT
Moments and Memories is a personal family lifestyle photography project that captures the connection between parents and their children, their personalities, interactions and special moments.

These sessions will not be posed. They will be documentary-style and candid. You don’t have to smile at the camera and say “cheese”. If you don’t like having your photo taken, there’s no pressure because you don’t have to look at the camera! You just have to be yourselves. I want you to play together, laugh and hold hands. Give your kids piggy back rides, cuddle on a quilt, throw leaves, splash in the river. Whatever it is that you love to do, that’s what I want to photograph. I will stand by and watch for moments. The images that come from this type of session are honest and real and show who you are as a family.

Along the way, I’ll direct you and give prompts, but your family will lead the session, especially the kids. I love following kids to see what they’ll do next. They often surprise me and some of the most beautiful images come from their innocence and honesty.

Trust in the moments, let me guide you and just relax and be open to whatever unfolds!

WHEN
I’m offering these special sessions through September and October. I may extend dates into November if the weather is nice enough and based on my availability. All sessions will be booked for early evening when the sun is setting and the light is best for photos.

WHERE
All sessions will take place in the Fredericton and/or Oromocto area. This means outdoors in tall grass, under the trees, near the river, anywhere that creates a backdrop for beautiful photos. I am also open to shooting in downtown urban areas where there are colourful or brick walls, interesting architecture or neat local businesses.

Because I am new to the area, I will be scouting locations myself in advance. If you know of quiet, natural locations or unique urban areas, I’d love to hear about them. I would like to stay away from busy parks and playgrounds, or any place that is usual for having photos taken, and stick to new and different places where we have space to roam.

If the weather is not on our side, we will discuss how to proceed. Personally, I love cloud cover or a bit of wind, which can add so much emotion to a photo and can be fun, if you’re comfortable with it. If the weather is terrible, we will shorten the session or reschedule. Please note that the sessions will not be moved indoors.

WHAT ELSE
What to wear?  Whatever you’re comfortable with! Choose outfits that complement each other but don’t match too much. Avoid solid blocks of bright colors, shirts with logos or writing, bold patterns and ball caps. You will be outdoors and moving around, so keep that in mind as you plan your outfits. Wear or bring relatively sensible shoes that you can walk in.

What do we get?  After the session, I will post a private online gallery of images. You will choose your favourite 5, which I will edit and deliver via digital download, as a thank-you for your time. You will be granted rights to share the images online and print them for personal use. You will also have the option to purchase print products or additional images from your gallery if you like, but you are under absolutely no obligation to do so.

What will you do with our images? Your images will be used in my online and print portfolio, published on my blog, and shared on social media. They may be entered into competition. In order to participate, you must sign a contract and model release.

WHY I’M DOING THIS
I am a family lifestyle photographer and I love to photograph young families who see value in documenting the little moments in their lives and who see beauty in laughter and being together. I am always trying to grow and develop my skills. This is a personal project for me, aimed at focusing on authentic connection while working on strengthening some of my personal technical goals.

Click the link below to complete a short questionnaire to help me get to know you. I will be in touch if you are chosen to be a part of the Moments and Memories project.

We’re a family of 5. My son Tristan who turned 1 today and my boufriend Jean-Guy has 12 year-old twins, Rian and Emalyn. We did a first photo shoot with Tristan when he was a few weeks old and we wanted to do another one really soon. We like outdoor natural pictures and we would fit in perfectly in what you are searching for. Thanks in advance!

Hi Audrey! I’m so excited that you are interested in my project! Can you fill out the questionnaire at https://form.jotform.ca/72195634332254, so I can learn more about you. If you are chosen, I’ll be in touch soon, thanks!
