Jeff and Alysa’s wedding was like a fairy tale. The bride looked like a princess in her ballgown and her groom was the perfect Prince Charming.
The details were stunning, from the simple centerpieces of gold bottles and books, to the colourful chandelier. There was a hint of Disney throughout, but it was classy and tasteful and just beautiful.
It was New Year’s Eve and it was a chilly but sunny day. Alysa and Jeff were married in the beautifully decorated hall surrounded by their family and friends. Alysa’s brother and sister sang to them, and they sealed their marriage with a kiss, before venture out into the winter wonderland.
We took their photos at their home, which happened to be a farm near town and the perfect location. We did their engagement photos there in the summer, and I wanted to recreate some of those images. We took shelter from the bitter wind in the loft of their barn, where I played a little with off camera flash and knew instantly that we had created something special. The chill in the air made their breaths visable, the light seeping in through the cracks in the walls and the dust floating around them created a magical scene.
As the sun was setting, we headed back outside and braved the cold to get a few perfect golden hour shots. The wedding party was so much fun, we had many laughs and memorable moments before it was time to go back to the reception.
After supper and a few short but sweet toasts, the party started. It was crowded and it was hot, but everyone was having a wonderful time getting ready to ring in the new year with the newlyweds.
Alysa and Jeff were going to be leaving for their honeymoon in the early morning hours, but that didn’t stop them from enjoying the night. It was the perfect way to celebrate a new year and their new marriage. They danced the night away with the people they love.
And they lived happily ever after.
