How often have you heard about someone doing a movie theatre family session? Up until last fall, I never had. I always say families should have their session at a place that means something to them, so when Natalie mentioned the idea to me,
Fond memories and fun
They live in the U.S. now, but Natalie lived in Fredericton and worked at the Cineplex theatre in the Regent Mall for ten years.
“I had the greatest memories and made the best friends, who I’m still friends with to this day. It is seriously one of my favourite places and I wanted my daughter’s first trip to the movie
I have to admit, it was a challenge. Movie theatres are dark, but I think that just adds to the fun and atmosphere of the photos. Natalie showed us around the closed theatre, which was the coolest thing ever. We even got to check out the upstairs and see where the movies are shown from.
We started their session on the walking bridge, where Natalie told me that she and her husband Matt got engaged. I loved hearing their story and how these places meant so much to them. It also meant a lot for them to be able to bring their daughter, Pepper, to the place their relationship started.
Oh, and can I say that this kid was the cutest? Her mom told me she was a very serious child and that she was hoping I’d be able to get some smiles out of her. She wanted documentary and lifestyle photos that meant not posing and trying to force smiles. I love that because that’s exactly what I do and love. And it was actually easy because they explored and played on the bridge and the smiles came naturally.
We finished the session off with a treat, and I think Pepper enjoyed it :)
