For this month’s 10 on 10, I was going to share some photos from one thing we did in the last month. But instead, I decided to share 10 images that represent my everyday life. During the summer it’s easy to take interesting and fun photos every day. We are always outside, going places and having fun. I could take hundreds of photos just at the playground.
During the winter, however, it’s a different story. We are inside most days, unless the weather cooperates and we can play in the snow. The days are short so there’s not always much light to work with. It’s hard to find inspiration.
But I have been forcing myself to look for it.

Our life isn’t glamorous. If I’m being honest, much of our winter days are spent watching TV or playing on the iPad. Or I’m working in my office while the girls are in their rooms playing and making a giant mess. It’s just not stuff I want to take pictures of.
But I have started looking closer.
During bath time, or while doing laundry. I force myself to step away from the computer to jump on the bed with the girls. Suppertime, when the late afternoon sun is streaming in through our patio doors, and the girls are running in circles around their dad while he dishes up their meals. That morning when Grace was determined to put her socks on by herself.
If I pay attention, there is beauty in every single day.
So here is some of that beauty, as simple as it may be. It’s my life and I love it all.
This year I have joined a group of photographers to document our days through blog posts on the 10th day of every month. We’ll each be posting 10 images that we took in the previous month. If you’d like to read all of the posts, click the link at the end of this post to continue the loop.
Follow along with the other talented photographers in the group, next up is the amazingly talented Erika Kao Photography. Make sure you give her and all the other ladies in our loop some love!
