This is the fourth post I have done for the 10 on 10 project I have been participating in this year. I’ve joined up with a group of talented documentary photographers to post and write about a series of 10 images on the 10th of each month. It has been a really fun challenge to tell a story in just ten photos. And it’s been even more fun to read the posts by my fellow photographers, and to see how they approach the project.

For this month’s 10 on 10, I captured my girls unplugging, being crafty and using their imagination. I love watching them be creative and looking for details to document that I know they will enjoy seeing years from now. Their imaginations are endless!

It all started with a box.

They each took a side and got to decorating it. Soon it became a “time capsule” (I think they meant time machine), and then a rocket ship. Sofia painted the controls, while Grace did the “wings”. Sofia loves creating, so she enjoyed painting it and coming up with ideas for what it could become. But Grace, she just wanted to play inside. So she and her Care Bear (and some popcorn for the trip) climbed aboard and started the countdown.

“10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 … BLASTOFF!”

She went to the moon and then Mars. And along the way, she met an “alien” that looked suspiciously like our dog Bobbi and wanted to eat her popcorn.

This year I have joined a group of photographers to document our days through blog posts on the 10th day of every month. We’ll each be posting 10 images that we took in the previous month. If you’d like to read all of the posts, click the link at the end of this post to continue the loop.

Lucky kids to have you documenting such a fun time at home. I love the pops of color and the interesting light coming through the blinds!

I’m not sure they always think they are lucky that they have a camera in their faces lol, but I think they’ll appreciate it when they’re older :)

Oh so sweet. I love when my kids are getting creative as well, maybe not so much the messes that come along with it haha, but it’s worth it in the end. You captured them beautifully.
